Drivers Beware

Road rage, bad drivers, and people who just don't pay attention are pet peeves for a lot of us. Sometimes there is just too much stress on the road...unless you drive a car like mine. One of my new favorite sayings is...

You probably care more about your car than I do mine!

So as a result, I created some T-shirts and coffee mugs, so that others who drive old junkers can have yet another reason to be proud of their transportaion. You can pick up your Drivers Beware merchandise here.

People Who Quit Blogs

Ok...today is about me. I am peeved at me. Like everyone else under the sun I am making the following post.

"I haven't done very well at staying consistent with my blog. I've been really really busy at work. I'll do better - I promise."

I have no idea if the above quote will be true for myself, but I did think to myself that someone should create a page that has the top ten blog posts. That way people could just copy and paste those generic postings, instead of having to creatively come up with ones of their own. Make sense? Doesn't matter if it doesn't.

I'm Ticked Off

Ever since local NBC affiliate WSMV in Nashville decided to delay an all new episode of The Office this past Spring for some stupid promo for American Baby, I've been going back and forth between the other two local affiliates for ABC and CBS.

Well, ABC affiliate WKRN now has my attention with a new segment they are running called "I'm Ticked Off" with Andy Cordan. It's a segment that spotlights issues that make people mad on a daily basis but most often no one says anything about it.

I think it is a great idea for people with pet peeves - Everybody's got 'em. I am looking forward to seeing which issues Cordan tackles.

Leaf Blowers and Tennis Players

Recently, several guys from work have started playing tennis at a near by recreation center. The competition doesn't hold a candle to Andre Agassi, but we have a lot of fun. Until....

Everyweek the grounds are kept by a local landscaping service that apparently has no knowledge of tennis etiquette. I understand they have to do their job but you would think they could wait a second for a point to be finished before they start mowing leaves onto the court. But what's worse is, you would think they would wait until a point is finished before they actually walk on to the court and begin blowing the leaves back off. Seriously, it was as if we were not even there. They just walked on and started blowing while we were in the middle of play.

There is today's pet peeve.

Chicken, Security, and Wal-Mart

I was having a conversation with some co-workers today and was reminded of an experience I had at Wal-Mart a couple of months ago. It is at this particular Wal-Mart that we have had several run-ins with the security screening as you exit the store.

On this particular evening, we were buying frozen chicken. Nothing else - just frozen chicken. As we left - BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! The elderly lady standing in pain by the door belted out in her loudest voice "Sir! please stop." Well, I stopped. I know I should have just kept walking. I didn't do anything wrong and there was no way she was going to catch me.

"What did you buy?" she said.

"Chicken." I thought "when did they start putting security strips on chicken strips."

So for the next several moments, I wasted life by going back and forth with the chicken and without the chicken to satisfy her curiosity of why the sensors went off in the first place.

Now if this had been the first time - not a big deal. I'm happy to help you keep costs down by preventing shop lifters. But the sensors have gone off on all three of my previous visits.

This is today's pet peeve. I hope you appreciate the times you are able to buy chicken freely.
